The Gampino is a blend of Gamaret and Pinot Noir, lightly spiced with the notes of Cabernet Cubin. It is a balanced, deep red wine reminiscent of black fruits (blackberries). The Gamaret mainly adds spice to the blend, while the Pinot Noir gives it the fruity finesse.
The Gamaret grape is a Swiss cross between Gamay and Reichensteiner and is grown especially in French-speaking Switzerland. The berries have a thick skin and a deep red colour. The grape variety is complex; it can be used on its own or as an assemblage. The red wines made from it are dark red and rich in tannins.
